learning Spanish language

I started learning Spanish as my fourth foreign language (after English, German, and French). My native language is Slovak. The right time came when I was studying at the University in Salzburg (my Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management), and they offered Spanish, Chinese, and Russian classes.

So, I went ahead and signed up for Spanish and Chinese. Those Spanish classes were some of my favorites at the Uni, and I fell in love with the language.

After that, we had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program at a different University, and since I wanted to improve my Spanish skills, I chose one in Barcelona, Spain.

It was not only some of the best times of my life, but I also got to immerse myself in Spanish culture, choose to live with a local girl and practice Spanish every single day. It didn’t matter to me that I had very little Spanish skills, and it was very difficult for me at the beginning to speak. I knew if I never spoke, I would never get there.

I even chose a class taught entirely in Spanish and, in the end, guided a group through Barcelona as a guide in Spanish. It was an adventure, and I mastered Spanish a lot more.

Later, I lived in Barcelona and worked there for two more years, so I got to practice even more. I also traveled a lot through Spain, Peru, and Nicaragua and walked twice the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, always practicing the language.

Spanish is one of my favorite foreign languages, and so in this section, I’ll give you my tips on how to learn it, a few resources, and more insights into the language:
